About.
Catherine Underhill a british freelance musician. She is a woodwind musician who is a double reed
specialist (oboe & cor anglais) along with saxophone, flute and clarinet. She is also co-artistic director
of
Collective31
and a music educator. She enjoys immersing herself in highly diverse style of music
and the Arts. Her work thus far has taken her all over the United Kingdom and Europe.
Catherine is currently studying at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance as a Helen Roll
Scholar and Trinity Laban London Scholar. She studied the oboe with Andrew
Knights and graduated from
University of Southampton
with a first class BA Hons in Music. She
also also studied privately with Adrian Rowlands and received a bursary
in 2016 to study with David Theodore at the British Isles Music Festival. She regularly plays in pit bands
across the UK for musicals, including Oklahoma, Oliver! and Guys and Dolls and operas such as Mozart's,
The Marriage of Figaro.
Her work also takes her to private functions and into concert halls with orchestra's, performing in
London and further afield. She has performed in venues such as Cadogan Hall and St John Smith's Square.
In February 2017, she performed the Marcello Oboe Concerto with Hillingdon Chamber Orchestra and has
recorded solo and duet repertoire with harpist, Charlotte Grimsey.

Catherine’s career has taken her to be involved with the arts on many levels. She is co-artistic director of
a UK Contemporary Arts Organisation,
Collective31
and is a music educator, leading ensembles and giving
woodwind lessons across West London. Catherine teaches the oboe, cor anglais, saxophone and clarinet
and music theory. She teaches all ages, from young children to adults and works towards graded exams if
the student wishes.
